Skimmer during cycle?

My 29 gallon tank has 50 lbs of base rock and some live rock in it and the sump/fuge.. This sunday will be 2 weeks its been in cycle. I put a raw medium shrimp in there to start the cycle. Should i use a skimmer? Would that slow the cycle?

ya start using the skimmer asap imo. Wont slow down the cycle. (and hopefully you took out that shrimp by now? :) )

The shrimp has be gone for like 3 days just rotted to nothing.

Also it was half a medium shrimp sorry.
