My current livestock includes 3 green chromis, 2 ocellaris clowns, 6 small blue-legged hermits, 2 nassarius snails, and 5 astrea snails. I would like to get a shrimp, but I'm a little confused over the purposes and compatibility. I've heard that some are better to keep in groups. i only want one shrimp.

Someday I'd like to add a coral or 2, so coral compatibility is something I'd like to consider, too.

Thanks!

if you are only getting 1 shrimp - imo the Coral Banded Shrimp is what i'd go with - they look awesome and dont always hide in the rockworks...

Hi I am new at this all too but I have one Blood (fire) Shrimp! I believe one of the reasons to have a shrimp is to help keep the fish clean of parasites. Currently in my tank I have a lawnmower blenny , 3 red legged hermits, 1 blue legged hermit, 1 astraea snail, and 2 margarita snails. My shrimp seems to be doing well and is constantly cleaning my fish. As a matter of a fact they live in the same cave together :) Don't know if this helps but good luck!

I beleive skunk cleaner shrimps are very social. Mine does my nails whenever I stick my hand in the tank.

Is there a difference between getting a blood shrimp or a skunk cleaner? Do they behave the same and clean the same?

I am not sure how to compare their cleaning skills, I only know that fire shrimp looks cooler than skunk, but often hides in rocks.

cleaners are much more social imo - fire will hide for the most part

Yeah cleaners come out more, fire shrimp like to hide, and are at most i think nocturnal.

Our CB shrimp will come out when we feed. I've also seen him cleaning off our puffer.
