Eheim 1262 noise

I bought a Eheim 1262 as a return pump for my 70G tank. I heard this pump is extremely quiet, but there is still "bee" sound from my pump. I put the pump in the water. Did I miss something about using this pump, or I may just picked up a bad one.

Hmm, you could try setting it on some filter floss, maybe, to try to decouple it from the sump. Hard to say. Noise is always very subjective.

noise is often from the pump vibration on the tank. Suspend the pump up off the tank and see if it is quiter. If so it is not the pump itself. I have heard of setting the pump on something soft and also suspending the pump so it is submerged and not touching anything. hope this was helpful.

what kind of sump do you have? I have 1260 in my 30G sump, and thinking about throttling it down.

my sump is 20G, and about 1/3 of it is the chamber for the return pump.
