broken glass vials

I participated in one of group buys by BAR back in Nov/Dec last year for the test kits, two of vials were broken into pieces while I was pulling the caps off, is there any way you can sent me 2 replacement vials and advise me on how to properly open the glass vial without shattering and potential hurt myself, thanks.

yeah just send me a pm with your info and I will send them out. I have plastic ones if you want them but the glass ones make it much easier to clean and read as the test gets older, just let me know which you prefer. As for opening them I have sent out many kits and I have replaced only a few vials so I am assuming that these were weak or damaged before they were opened. When we changed the kits for the US we decided to go with the glass to make it easier to read and clean but if it becomes a problem we can switch back to the plastic vials. Thanks, Jesse

They make vial openers for this. Its a plastic cover that sleeves over the top and then you just snap it off. You can also wrap tape around the top and bottom area leaving the neck exposed.

are they amps (ampules) or vials? If you have a pic, it would be great. Here is one for amps thats $7.

Here is a picture of the contents of the Ca test kit. African grey is talking about the vial with the plastic stopper between the 10 and 20ml droppers. african grey I got your pm. Hope that helps.

Pull straight up on the caps; don't pry one end to "pop" it out. I broke one the very first time I've used it and haven't done so since then.

Thanks for the quick responses and the pic of vials, perhaps you can reflect this to the company so that they can make the handling more user friendly. I guess I am not the only one experience the problem. It's not so much of broken glass, but the liability that it carries when people get hurt when handling this.
