I have 400w MH right now wondering if theres others out there that have downgraded from 400's to 250's.

Did you see any problems with your SPS ?

I've heard of a few more people who have been going from 400w to 250w in this forum. It's not that surprising, because most people don't have a tank that is deep enough to really warrant that difference in wattage.

Do you know of there threads ?

I just switched from 250W to 400W and have seen tremendous growth spurt on all SPS. The downgrade would supposedly do the opposite, i.e. I would expect your growth to slow down quite a bit.

Get some Lumenarc mini's and then switch.

I went from 250 to 400watt SE 20ks and the difference is very pleasing. Colors and growth are much better now. I think Kip, past tank of the month went from 400s to 250s maybe ask him.

There are a bunch of threads Here (http://reefcentral.com/forums/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=7812674&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) I downgraded over a year and a half ago and have been happy with the results. I was using Zeo so the water was a lot clearer and the 250's were penetrating well enough in a 24" tank. Also, I was running 400's in a tank that was plumbed into the same system and the corals looked better under 250's for some reason. Once again I think the water was really clean. I think the water quality plays a big role when using lower wattage bulbs, IMO. Hope this helps.

Thanks Eric I just stopped using my zeo since my PO4 is at .01 still now that I stoped i use a few additives still though. To be able to save 300w a day in electric will make a diffrence for my electric bill this is why im loking for the info. The link doesnt work for me I guess because im not a premium member. Cant wait to see pics of your new place ;)
