which is better in terms of PAR, and what's the color difference? i have been using the phoenix 14K on a PFO dual HQI ballast for last year and pretty happy w/ color and growth, but have repeatedely been recommended to try the reeflux...what K rating is the reeflux anyway?

Are you using 250 watt bulbs ? If you are then......

I believe the Phoenix is pretty much the same bulb as the Aquaconnect 14 K. If that is true, on an HQI ballast the Phoenix is burning at 109 PAR/PPFD and the color temp is at 11444 CCT on the spectral chart.

The 10 K reeflux on an HQI ballast is 113 Par and 10093 CCT. The Reeflux does have a large blue and red spike which gives it a nice appearance. The red spike gives some a pinkish hue to their eye but I have never really noticed myself.

If you are using 400 watters obviously the numbers are completely different. :)

The 12 K reeflux has not been tested yet to my knowlege.

Also, I have heard overdriving the Reeflux on an HQI will make them look pinker to the eye also. I do not have personal knowlege of this ,however, but just thought I would mention it.

Ahh...DE bulbs. Then you are at 88 PFD / PAR on your HQI with the Phoenix 14 K bulbs. No color temp reported in Sanjays testing. The Reeflux data above is still the same but is a single end mogul bulb. The reeflux is not made in DE bulbs and the Coralvue 15 K and 20 K DE bulbs are different and not Reeflux. The 15 K regular Coralvue DE bulb is only 54 PPFD.

I went from 250wDE phoenix bulbs to Reeflux 10k just recently.
My colors have enhanced and I am getting good grow since switching.
The color of the tank is more pinkish white and takes getting used to.
