right now i have a 30 gallon Oceanic cube (21x18x20) that has been up for more than a year now... although i love the tank's shape and size, i want to get something that has an overflow...
i am trying to decide between the Oceanic 45 gallon cube (24x18x24) and the regular 58 gallon (36.5x18x21)... you might say that since i like the cube shape, it just makes sense to go with the 45 cube... but the thing i don't like about the cube is its 24" height... i just don't like the height in regards to aquascaping and at first glance, the tank looks streched... i'd rather have a long looking tank than a high looking tank... this next setup will be my dream system, and there's no way i'm gonna be able to fit a big skimmer, a calcium reactor, and a co2 can under that 45 gallon cabinet... if i go with this tank, i'll most likely go with a 250w MH... is that even enough for a 24" high tank...?
the other option is the 58 gallons... the dimesion of this tank is pretty much the same as my 30 gallon cube... with the obvious double in length... i think i can fit all the equipment that i want to get under the stand... if i get this i might go with either 2 150w or 2 175w... i'm trying to set up a tank that would consume as little power as possible so i don't really want to go with 2 250w...
it seems obvious that i should go for the 58 but i have grown very fond of cubes in the past year i've owned mine... but the shape is the only thing going for the 45 gallons... i guess it's like i'm looking through "rose colored glasses" and i'm looking for inputs on what i might be missing...
