I currently have a Catlina brand skimmer rated for 200 gal. I have a 120 gal ree ftank with a 60 gal sump. I do not think the skimmer works well. I only skim off about one cup a week.

Anyone know what skimmer I should go with or is the Catlina working fine?

Catalina, jebo, odyssea, and seaclone are know for being toys. I would suggest you research the good one's. An octypus would be a great in sump skimmer and there relatively cheap. But if you have a 120reef, i would get an upgrade. In the meantime, i'd mod that skimmer with the fishing line mod or mesh wheel mod, it may produce ok, ya never know.

How do you do the mesh wheel mod?

Do a search in the DIY or this forum for mesh mod, its very simple and usually produces well. It basically turns your pump into a better microbubbler pump. I'll look for th eforum real fast.

There ya go, just do this to your pump and see what happens. I would still suggest another skimmer if you could afford one.
