Octopus Recirc 200 Skimmer Loud??
I just purchased a Octopus Recirc Needlewheel 200 and tested it in tap water and it seemed a little loud for my taste. It had a humming noise to it. This skimmer will be in my living room so I am a little concerned. Is this common for these Recirc Skimmers or do I just have to wait for it to break in??

is the noise coming from the pump or from sucking in air?

My DDNW-250 is awfully loud in my mind...however its in the basement so no worries :)

I have 4 friends with Octo Recirc Skimmers and they are all really loud, pump and venturi.

One of them has to blow in venturi to get his pump started.

But they do work nice, I spent the extra couple hundred and got something I new would be quite but probably works about the same. No basements in Florida to hide the hum.

The Hum is coming from the pump and I want to place this skimmer under the stand. I am just hoping the pump will go through a break-in period and quiet down. Any other experiences with these skimmers?

I hate this skimmer but I am stuck with it for now. have to blow in the airline to get it started after turning off the pump. Have to mod it to make it work worth a....darn. Even then doesnt do that great of a job.

Id rather just buy something that works and let it do its job.

drock, thats a known problem with the pump on the RPS2000. Send the damn thing back.

My NW200 was dead silent until I started cutting things up. Now it makes loud slurpy noises because it draws 50+ scfh.
