Need a lil help here....My overflo has been running flawlessly for months now....over the weekend i cut the return pipe and added a tee and a ball valve in an attempt to add flow to the middle compartment of my 3 part sump. I opened the ball valve just a 1/4 turn to let in a little flow into the refuge.....now my durso pipe is making a slurping sound as the water level in my return is too low......I shut the ball valve hoping that the slurping would stop but it still slurps...can u guys give me a hand with a fix for the slurp.....is there any way that this condition could result in the tank overflowing????

is this a home made durso, or one made by aga/oceanic?
if its the latter, ill i did was get some tubing (the maxijet worked well) and inserted it into the three holes just below the water line on the durso drain tube.
the three tubes allow for "larger breaths" which has silenced the slurping. no need for huge gulps of air when there is a steady supply.
good luck
Sounds like the air/water mix is out of whack now. How ever you have the adjustment, adjust it:)

Let me clarify my 1st post...I cut the pipe that comes from the overflo and dumps into the sump. I didnt think it would have and affect on the overflo as once the wter spills into the overflo its done and nothing, short of plugging the drainpipe, would affect the flo into the sump. It is a home made durso with one 3/8 inch hole at the top of the cap. I can put my finger over the hole a few times and it cause major fluctuations in the overflow but then the slurping stops for a while but eventually comes back....I close the new ball valve off completely so its not draining any water( back the way it used to be) but it is still slurping.....I can't figure it out..need help
Have you poured hot RO/DI water into the 3/8" air hole to make sure that there is no salt build-up in it? (It's probably fine. This is just a precautionary measure.)

I had a similar problem and used this setup to fix it. Insert a small piece of airline tubing and a 1/4" John Guest valve in the hole on top of the pipe, to be able to ajust amount of air being taken into the pipe.
You can raise or lower the water level in your overflow. Good luck.
