I was just wondering if it would be poss to run 2x250 DE on a 30" deep tank that is mostly sps. Would this be enough light?
Right now Im running 2x400 SE. Do DE put out "more light" than SE.
Thanks

I have SPS growing on the bottom of my tank with 1 150w HQI and 1 250w HQI. My clam is happy on the bottom as well.

How deep is your tank?

Sorry, I forgot to add that even after I went over and measured it. The tank is 24 inches with the lights about 8 inches off the water.

Hey Worldwidereef,

FWIW, I use (2) HQI DE 250's on my 150 gal which is 30" tall. I have mostly SPS, but lightly stocked so far, and light does penetrate to the bottom of the tank with some shimmer to it.

Only time will tell if this is enough light to maintain future SPS colonies at the bottom.
