I am setting up a 120 gallon, 48 x 24 x 24, that I eventually want to be able to keep anything. I have decided on the Tunze, but wanted some input on which one. Since I am buying alot of equipment now, I would like to keep the costs down, so I was leaning towards 2 6080s, but thought maybe I should go for the 6100s and add a contoller later. I would hate to add the 6080s and then later wish I had the 6100s.

What would you do?

Thanks,

add two 6000s and then you can always upgrade the transformers to 6100s.

I agree. 2 6000s on a multicontroller is what I would do.

Cool I used to live in St. Charles and Algonquin. I know that is a little far from you but we used to cycle every weekend to Crystal Lake. Man was it beautiful.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yinger- Is the only benefit of buying the 6000s now and upgrading later costs savings?

Chefin'- It can't compare to Louisville, can it?

if you are going to keep SPS right now, i'd go with the 6100s right away. But if you planning on keeping LPS, just go with the 6000s to save some money right now, then later spend 75 for a new transformer and it'll turn into a 6100. The new transformer plus your 6000 will be the same price as a new 6100 plus u get an extra transformer for backup.

I have a 110 with 2x6100 and I am glad that I went with the extra power. You are going to need all 3175 gph in a tank thats 24" deep if you want to really move the water around. SPS love flow and many think that lots of flow helps with growth.
