Hey everyone,

I recently got a Current USA Outer Orbit 250 HQI/T5HO

The fixture is VERY loud. I can hear the fans from my room all the way across the house. I was considering opening the fixture to try and replace/add some Nexus silent fans instead. Is this a wise idea or should I just leave it as it is? The ballasts are also farily loud unfortunately.

There are a few things to consider here. The fans used in the lighting fixtures vary greatly. You would have to get in there and figure out if the fans are 120V or if they are 12V or some other variation. Then you have to find a compatible fan while making sure the CFM (cubic feet per minute) flow is the same.

I'd say if the fans are the same size as the Nexus and run on the same current, do it! My tank is in the living area and sound issues are significant for me....
