All - Had to put my main tank in hypo due to ich. Been fine for about a week but tonight I tested the ammonia and it's somewhere between .2 & .4. I suspect the snails and other animals in the substrate are dying off.

I did a 25% water change and the level remained basically unchanged. Should I just keep doing daily 25% water changes? Head to the LFS and look for something to add to the water to remove ammonia?

The fish seem fine at the moment, but I want to make sure they make it through hypo ok!

You should never put your main tank into hypo. Inverts cannot handle it, your liverock wont handle it well, your livesand wont handle it. Hypo is for a quarantine tank thats setup with sponge filters and no substrate.

Get your salinity back up, do it slowly though. Over the course of a week.

Problem is I don't have a qt tank, so it was a save the fish or save the inverts. I really don't want to lose the fish.

With that being said what can I do to pull down the ammonia?

I went to the LFS store and got some chemical....can't remember the name but it totally did the trick for me.

Good luck!
