Just received my kit the other day. As usual with any products ordered from Ryan, very prompt. Anyway, couple basic questions:

1) For dosing purposes, how do you measure the the tank water volume? For example, my display tank is 110 gal, sump is 30 gal, and there's about 200 lbs of live rock which creates a lot of water displacement. Do I use 110 gal, 140 gal, or some other figure to account for water displacement? I'm probably overthinking this, but i've never added supplements like this to my tank so i'm unfamiliar with this.

2) What are some examples of a low demand tank vs. a mixed tank? Is a mixed tank just a tank with fish & some corals whereas a low demand is one with just low demand corals?

Thanks

1)water volume is tank + sump - the rock. Id rather not guess what that would be in your tank because your guess would prolly be better than mine, you are there to see it : )

2) low demand would be just a handful of low demand corals : )
mixed tank would be a mix of sps and lps. if ya really want to know for sure I would ask Randy because he wrote the article and the suggested amounts in the table : )

The best plan is to never dose something that you are not testing for. Measure the PH, Alk and Ca of your tank using good test kits (e.g Salifert) and begin dosing lightly. Adjust dosage slowly to achieve and maintain the desired levels. Take your time. Stability is much more important than numbers.
