I have had leather coral for about 2 months, it's been doing fine, extending its polyps (tentical like) during day, and retracting them during night hours.
I've changed my water flow in tank recently, added a SEIO 1100 for some hard corals I have, and now coral looks like it's night time for about a week. No polyp extensions whatsoever. Could it be that water flow is too strong? Or should I look for another reason?

dont worry about it. it is a common thread/question about leathers.they close up now and then, sometimes because they are irritated, but mostly because they just close up right before they are going to grow. when it happens to mine it normally sheds its skin after the interim when it is retracted. i'm no expert but this is very common from what everyone says. it may be retracted for a week or two, but to look on the bright side, it's probably going to open up soon and grow. so good luck and enjoy!

Thanks, this my first softie (except for xenia) that gave me a concern. I'll sleep better then ;)

i agree. I've got 5 leathers myself and anytime i do something like change flow or whatever, at least one of them closes up. Guaranteed.
And the fact that they're leathers makes it even more common, because leathers get ticked off at just about anything. If my shrimp walks over my toadstool, it closes for 2 days lol.
