So last wek I bought a 4.5 pound peice of LR from the LFS I've been going too. I was just amazed by it. The peice was in one of his FOWLR tanks, and he said the peice had been in there for almost two years to get this type of growth. I got the peice for $20. I was very happy with the purchase, got it home, and couldn't wait to take some pics and post it on here. (then in addition to what you see, 2 small hermits crawled out of some holes in the rock. What an awesome peice of LR! Also, I will post a little movie of my tank and and a couple other pics of my cool little fishes ;)

I love this hobby! Enjoy! What do you think of the LR!

The movie should be a minute long, it is on photobucket, but when I just played it, it was only 30 secs, here's the link to hopefully see the whole thing.

Sorry guys, I can't get the full movie to play from a link from RC. What the deuce! This was not supposed to be so complicated ;)

OH, well, you'll just have to believe me that everyone in my tank is happy and doing well :)

I am so glad you posted your pics as I have lots of the same kind of growth on the live rock in my tank too. What exactly is on the rock in pics 1 and 2? Someone told me they were mini feather dusters but someone mentioned Aiptisia? Or is that in pic #3? It's great to see that it is definitely a good thing.

Looks good Steri, thanks for sharing.

Steph :-)

The guy who said Aiptisia was just kidding. Pics 1 and 2 are tube worms (mini feather dusters). They are filter feeders for the tank. They are awesome to have if you have them on your LR IMO. From what I understand, they should spread onto other LR as well. Personally, I am putting some photoplankton in my tank e/o day just to make sure that the feather dusters are getting enough to eat, but ya, for $20, that is an awesome peice of LR in my opinion!

LOL, I see....i missed the *jk* at the end!

I do have many of those on my LR and they do appear to be spreading so I guess that's good then.

At our LFS, I can't imagine every seeing a piece of rock like that.
Good find for you!
