Also, what are the lighting requirements and how high should they be from the water surface?
They really produce a lot of slime don't they?

I consider them a stag because of their long branches. I find them to be very hardy and I can put my colony anywhere in my tank and it will do well.....just give it the basic requirements for a SPS and they will do fine.....

Do they actually end up like a stag? Any pictures of yours?

Yes, it's a staghorn IMO.

That is, if it's the standard slimer. I've seen some so-called `Bali slimers' [used to have one] that were a very different Acro-type than the standard [A. yongeii] slimer.

So the light requirements should be the same as a stag?

They are considered Staghorns.

Really easy to care for, I have seen the do well at the top and bottom of tanks with many different lighting setups.

They grow like weeds, so it's better to put them lower so they have room to grow.

Mine is on the sandbed of my 58g, have 2 *175 (Iwasaki 14K)
It grows like a weed. I have to frag it often due to it growth.

Here is a recent picture of it. (FTS, it's on the left hand side)

Yes I'd say they are stags also. My colony is up top and it's about to grow out the tank. I have to trim it very often.

I have one and I would say they sure do give off lots of slime and this is the reason they do not ship very well. They also love lots of flow and good lighting for them to keep there bright green color. Mine is in the lower left side in the tank and likes were it is.

I love your aquascape. How do you keep those rocks intact?

I see that you've got the same problem I'm having with the valonia algae.

I have taken most of the rocks out of my tank and the fish are sitting in qt. I have gotten rid of all of the bubble and are doing large water changes in the meantime. You have to deal with it before it gets really bad....

Gee thanks for noticing. ;) Yea, I taken out all the rocks before and scrubbed them clean, but I didn't take out all the fish. I am just trying to remove them (carefully) and keep up with my WC. Plus I got a Phos-reactor for Xmas. Been dealing with them for about a year now. They are a PITA, but I am not ready to take all the steps yet. Hope it works out for you.
