Ive searched around and what not but cant seem to find the answer i need. First one, how do i get the water to run out of the tank into the sump without drilling holes? cost dosnt matter or having to modify the tank in any way i just dont wanna risk breaking the tank, and can some plz explain what a overflow is explain how the whole getting water in and out of the sump is done? of course with out having to drill a hole in it? im roughtly new and this is the only thing holding me from doing this, o yea ill be useing a 10gallon sump tank if it helps.

Here is a link to my tank thread:

My tank is pre-drilled and drains directly into the sump. In your case, without drilling the tank, you would need to purchase a hang on overflow kit. Basically, using suction, water flows from the tank to the external hang on overflow unit. From there the water drains into the sump and runs through the chambers. The final chamber contains a return pump that returns the water to the display tank. be careful not to oversize the return pump.

Take a look at Melev’s website for a good explanation on Sumps and overflows. He has a lot of great information!
