Hi Roger,

Just after your thoughts. I’m setting up yet another tank and the dimensions will be either 48 long, 24 wide and 18 high (possibly 24 high but most likely not).

Tank will be housing mixed corals with SPS. I’m going to have sand on the bottom 1- 1.5MM grain size (carib sea).

I’m going to be adding a wave box and a multi controller. What streams would you suggest for this tank size, either 2 x 6055 nano streams (when released), 2 x 6000 or 2 x 6100.

Many thanks for your advise.

Cheers

Hi Roger,

Size change to the tank - now 48 x 18 x 18. Would a wave box work OK in this size and also how many streams on a controller (1 or 2 and what models).

Thanks again.

The wavebox should work OK, where will your overflow be positioned, centered on the back wall is the best for maximum wave height.

I would get a single 6000, you can upgrade it to a 6100 if you require more flow later.

Thanks Roger,

So 2 streams would be an over kill? I would have though 2 streams at 5500/hr (6055) pulsing at oposite ends would have been a better choice, thanks mate.

Well, the wavebox kind of covers the need for random flow and stirring things up. The Stream is just a source of linear flow, the tank is not so big to need too pumps. For an SPS tank the 6000 would be preferred (1 or 2) so you can upgrade to a 6100 if you feel you need more flow.
