New Setup

Buddy of mine has a 30 gallon and a 10 gallon that we want to setup in a display sump format. Questions:

1) What is the minimum light needed to do a fish only live rock setup, no coral what so ever?

2) Is a protein skimmer a must have if you use a fuge setup in the sump?

3) How much flow is needed for this arrangement?

I am sure more to come, but this is the short list as of now.

1) you can use regular flourescent lights

2) No you dont need a protein skimmer

3) You should have decent flow in the tank to circulate water, but there is no real requirments that the fish need.
