I know that most people keep their temps at 78-82. But what really is the best temp to keep your tank at. Is it better to be a little warmer. Say.....82?

Ideally we are tryig to recreate nature as best we can. Depending on where the inhabitants of your tank come from would determine the "ideal" temperature.

But even in the wild there is so much temperature fluctuation it's hard to say what is the "perfect" temperature.

Now with that in mind:

Warmer water does not hold as much oxygen as cooler water so the cooler the water the more pxygen for your inhabitants to utilize.

I personally keep my heater set at 80, it has a slight nighttime drop to about 78 and will go up in the afternoon to about 82 +/-
