I have a 29 gal. saltwater tank. I set it up about 2 months ago and am debating whether I need a protein skimmer for my tank, is it just to small to have one?

Nope. You can use a quality HOB-type skimmer. Try the AquaC Remora.

Stay away from the SeaClone. Unless you like messing with a skimmer daily and like to do constant modifications, it just isn't worth the money (even though it's cheap).

IMO a 5 gal water change every 2 weeks is more than enough.. those small skimmers suck..... why waste your money on a skimmer...

I have a 29g Biocube. I use a Sapphire Aquatics skimmer designed especially for the BC29. It doesn't suck it blows (bubbles). Works fine.

IMO - definitely get a skimmer - the aqua-c remora hang on is a good choice, consider another 5 to 10 pounds of rock and ditch the aquaclear.

D&D marine typhoon drfosters for $68, a decent little hob skimmer.

I had a Remora on my 29 that worked very well. FWIW

You really don't need a skimmer unless you want one. On small tanks like yours, I would just do a weekly 2-3g (1/2 a 5g bucket) water change or 5g every other week. Weekly is better and your corals would love you for it.
