14 months doesn't seem as long as it sounds.

Standard 20H
250w DE MH Pendant
20 lb. LS
35 lb. LR
Various SPS corals
Maxima Clam

I plan on thinning out my collection of SPS and going with some soft corals and a RBTA which I am picking up this week end.

very nice keep up the work! ;)

Travis Savant
02/09/2007, 06:16 AM
I use a Nikon D80 for taking pictures.

I don't have a filter, just LR and LS and water changes with Oceanic salt mix.

To clean the glass, and around the sand, I use CPR's Lil' Chizzler, works great.

Thanks guys :D

Looks great.I think I remember this tank from while ago. Do you still have the that really nice red cap, I think you called it a police cap. Maybe that was a different person.

Travis Savant
02/09/2007, 08:32 PM
Yeah, that's me. I do still have it, but it's not as red as it used to be.

If I could do it over again, I would have gone with a sump, but I would have the tank drilled.

First, that tank looks VERY clean! That's the look I strive for.

A few questions, how do you keep coralline growth off the back? Second is an observation and a question; I would expect to see more coralline growth at 14 months. Are you using IO and not dosing any calcium supplements?

When I had my 110g setup I didn’t get much coralline growth with IO salt until I dosed a two part calcium supplement. I dose it in my current NanoCube 24g and can see a huge difference in the amount of coralline already.

Travis Savant

I use Oceanic salt mix. There is no coralline on the back because I scrape it off. The pumps are new, so they aren't covered in any algae, yet.

I have lots of coralline on the rocks, in fact, I started with 30 pounds of base rock and added 5 pounds of live rock. most of the coraline is a deep deep red, almost burgundy.

Steven0000
02/10/2007, 09:09 PM
how do you keep the algae off the sand?

Travis Savant
02/10/2007, 09:27 PM
Fighting Conch and good water quality.

Steven0000
02/11/2007, 07:19 PM
do you feed you feed him anything?

Travis Savant
02/11/2007, 07:20 PM
He eats the algae.

Steven0000
02/11/2007, 07:38 PM
so you don't feed him anything extra?

Travis Savant
02/11/2007, 07:39 PM
nope, there is enough algae so that once he gets from one side of the tank to the other, the algae has already grown back and he can turn around and eat some more lol, it;s an endless cycle.

It seems that the SPS in the right side has some RTN.

Dosn't matter, sold it to a local. Had to make some room for all of this...

What is this? I have one of these too.

Travis Savant
02/16/2007, 03:01 PM
It's a Kenya Tree.

I am planning on feeding the RBTA Silver Sides, just as soon as my LFS gets some in. I just added the RBTA about a week ago.

I thought so.

I have 3 small kenya's, but one looks different than the others. One is very light like yours, and the other 2 are much darker.

haha great video and very nice tank.

REDDAWG43, go to page one. there are pics of the chizzler, it's just an algae scaper deal, like a magfloat but with more of an edge
