Ive been using a 5 gallon Sterilite rubber container to hold my make up water. Are there any issues on these? Ive heard that some rubber containers leak phosphates so I just wanted to check. LMK what you think. Thanks

Rubber, or plastic?

I dont know about leaching, but IME sterilite is notorious for getting brittle and cracking and dumping water everywhere.

I have used it, with no apparent ill effects. Its more like a plastic then a rubber. If you drop it from 4 feet off the ground, it will most likely crack.

Yes. I believe it is plastic. Which is better?

Rubber may be more likely to leach undesirables, and may also stiffen and crack over time. Plastic is better, IMO. FWIW, I've rarely seen rubber containers except in specialized applications.
