Anyone know what the H2O GPH throughput is on the BM200 and 250?

I guess no one knows/has measured it?

I don't think anyone's measured it. But this is off the ATi website.

BM200 rated approximately 425-450gph
http://www.atiaquaristik.com/index.php?id=57,0,0,1,0,0
http://www.atiaquaristik.com/index.php?id=95,0,0,1,0,0
Air draw rated 1,000-1,100lph

BM250 rated approximately 800-850gph
http://www.atiaquaristik.com/index.php?bubble_master_abschaeumer_bt5
http://www.atiaquaristik.com/index.php?id=92,0,0,1,0,0
Air draw rated 2,000+lph

Thanks for the reply. The link states the 250 has Eheims, doesn't say on the 200. Plus Euro Vs US specs, so who knows. I assume the specs should be close to that though. Damn, that's a lot of throughput.

The first 250 models that was released overseas were single Eheim 1260 pumps. There was a couple of USA reefers on Z e o v i t e dot com that received betta models with the Eheim 1260. But when ReefGeek received their first shipment, all skimmers had the new Sicci pumps. Based on the water flowthrough rates, I guess the skimmers are appropriately rated, but the flowthrough rates maybe optimistic. It would be great if some of the BM200 and BM250 owners can measure the approximate flowthrough rates.

Based on Ed's evaluation of a minimum of 3 weeks on each unit and continual weekly testing of all the new units as well as comparing to different skimmers of various companies, his rating is:
BM200, 200g heavy, up to 250g normal
BM250, 500g heavy, up to 600g normal
so, if anyone has over 500g display tank, they may want to wait for the BM300... heard it maybe rated for up to 1,000g heavy.

I noticed that the manufacturer's rating of the air draw of the 2 pumps together on the BM250 is 2,000lph+. In the evaluation at Ed's shop, he had a consistent 1,800lph on several different BM250 units. So much for manufacturer's specs... I think you know how I feel about manufacturer's specs. :D

BM's use needlewheels? If not, why is that alot of throughput?
Just looking into these skimmers a little.

BM use threadwheel, but the Sicci pumps are the strongest tiny pumps I've witnessed.

800 - 850GPH is a lot of H2O through the body. It seems so anyway. I've been watching these for awhile and think I'm gonna try one out. There is a big gap in the BM200 and 250 rated capacity. I tend to take ratings with a big bucket of salt anyway. I have a 180G but total display/sump/fuge volume is ~ 250G. Stock is moderate right now, but will increase (I like Tangs). It seems I'd be on the high side of the BM200. I'm leaning toward the BM250 which seems way overkill.

FWIW i use the 250, and i have about the same watervolume, and heavy fish load and like tangs as you. Plus my fish like to eat or they get mean with each other.
I'd go ith the 250. I feel it can handle a 400-500 gallon watervolume. JMO

I would agree with you on the bucket of salt... also, maybe this is what they're getting overseas as no one has measure the USA version that anyone is aware of. I think the BM250 is not overkill on your setup because your total water volume would be testing the BM200 to the hilt. You'll definitely have room for growth on the BM250 and this will work better on your 250g total water volume than those who have it on 1/2 that volume. :D

sjm817, Ed may have a first generation BM250 that might go for less if budget is of any concern or you don't have any available locally.
