I was wondering what kind of fairy wrasse this is? Tanaka?

It is a male of C. pylei from Vanuatu, and thanks, sohalfr.

Thats what it is...its from Pacific Island Imports....sadly when they come in to stores they dont look near as nice as that one!!!

A very nice picture of the species from Indonmesian waters around Sulawesi. There are three forms of the species, and the Cebu variety is very rare.

I am positive my wrasse came from Vanuatu

The Vanuatu male has a broader blue margin on tail, but yours seems still young and that would develop with growth, although the ventral fins already are longer.

The dorsal fin is becoming reddish on outer margin in yours that suggests a Vanuatu male, and I am so sorry.

No problem, I actually requested a small C. pylei from a collector in Vanuatu, that is why I am so sure of the source - I introduced it to a harem of C. jordani that I am very careful with, so I specifically wanted a non terminal male. Here is another picture:
