well i tried to do the bath/QT my perc and for some reason he didnt take to well to it and past away (he had velvet)....the funeral service was this morning as he leaves behind one perc and several other saltwater fishes. I did buy another true perc today and they are not getting along. The one that i had is slightly bigger than the one i just bought. I think he has discruntle widow syndrom or something. Is there anyway i can help their relationship along. My original perc goes out of his way to chase down the new one and pester him. They arent biting as of yet but who know if they will. What are some tips and tricks i can use to force their relationship if any? Please help!

There isn't much you can do, other than letting them sort out who's the boss. Give it time and things will change.

Do you have a sump? I did it with my tangs. I put them in my sump and they went to opposite sides. Two days later, back in the main tank and Mr. Purple and Mr. Desardani had come to an agreement never to go in the sump again.

lol nice marko. Well i solved the problem. I took the old one back to the LFS and bought the other one that was there with the new one. Dude at the LFS says they are a truely mated pair but we shall see. They are happy as a clown. Hope they stay that way or they will get a detention in the sump.

Paul,
Sorry to hear about the fish. Have you identified what may have caused the outbreak of velvet in the first place? I worry that your new ones might meet the same fate. Did you do anything different (like QT? w/ sterilizer) this time around?
Clowns will fight when they are young so that one becomes dominate and grows up to be the female (I am assuming the ones you bought are still young). The other will stay small and male, so all the fighting is determining who will be the female.

these true clowns were in a LFS in a display tank...i really paid about $15 more cuz he really didnt want to get rid of them. I pulled the valued customer card and talked him into it.
Mike.
I tried the UV/QT and im hoping the outbreak is gone. No other fish seems to be affected by the disease. Im not too sure it was velvet. I think my worst mistake was pulling the little bugger out of the main taik. I think i just induced more stress that let do his demise. We shall see if the others react well.
BTW i got a seagrass wrasse and he is constantly digging holes in the sand. I assume i cant stop this so i might evict him if it gets too out of hand. grrrr....
