80% of my snails are at the top of my tank?

Why do my snails want to be at the top of my tank 1/2 in and 1/2 out of water?

I have 20 Astrea's

That's what I thought, but they don't move.

Predators in the tank? Then snails should move at the night, when others are asleep.

Nope. I added a 3-4" Powder Blue Tang today witch is the only fish in my tank but they have been at the top for days.

My snails do this a lot. I dont know why. It doesnt seem to hurt them and it doesnt seem like anything is wrong. Youve only had them in for a couple of days right? As long as your not finding them on their backs you should be fine.

They are spawning. If you look carefully you see puff of sperms and eggs coming out. They will be back to normal tomorrow.

mine do that too...i dunno about the orgy though, they always seem to be up there by themselves....maybe its a 'one-man show'..?

At least your snails are staying in the tank. I find my nerites on the trim around the bottom of my tank on the outside.
