I'm in the market for buying a new camera to take pics of my tanks. Want to buy a basic point and shoot, something below $350. DSLR's are nice, but dont have $800 for a camera. Hopefully I can buy it next week when my best buy rewards money comes back. Thanks :D

Those canon A630s seem nice, or is it 640?

If you can you will be happy with the dslr, lots of room to grow and use of multiple lenses well worth the money ,people get point and shoot cameras and wonder why cant my camera do this or do that ,because they are limited in their useage, dont get me wrong plenty of good cameras out there all depends on what you wanna shoot

I was thinking about that, but I just want the camera to take pictures of my fish and coral mainly. Which DSLR would you recommend that is the most afforable? I would not mind stepping up a little to get a dslr, but dont have the funds to purchase those really expensive ones.

You should be able to find better prices since the the FZ8 just came out this month.
I own a Panasonic digital. If I had to repalce, I would get this line.
However, you mentioned you want to take pic of your tank and fishes. These Prosumer cameras can do the job, but don't get your hopes up to high.
Macro lens is what you need and with that, only a SLR camera can do. If you don't want to spend $800 for a camera only, there is still 35mm film camera for less than $200. That leave you plently of money for a macro lens.
