Silicone doesn't stick well to Acrylic (lexan).

That is true that the silicone don't bond the greatest to plastic (lexan, acrylic, etc) But, I have used it in the past with great results. Since you won't be trying to hold the tank together you will be fine. After several years I tried to separate some partitions in my AGA sump with acrylic partitions, it was very very hard. Silicone bonds well to glass, which is on both sides of the partition. http://www.greatlakesaquariums.com make sump/Fuges out of 3 glass sides and one plastic. They are local to me. I asked them about it. They said good silicone on well prepared plastic is nearly impossible to take apart without breaking the glass or the plastic.
Hope that helps.

btw lexan is not acrylic, its polycarbonate.

acrylic (plexiglass) is polymethyl methacrylate.
