Are the new Electronic ones from Pinpoint any good?

Also what is the best Alk test?

Thanks.

My understanding is that the electronic monitors are inaccurate at best.

Also, I've only tried a few alk tests and the salifert is far and away the best. I've heard the Elos tests are good as well.

Are you having problems with the salifert kits?

I almost crashed a tank unsing electic devices, I would either get salifert or Elos test kits. I wish I had all that money back, I ened up purchasing a full set of Elos test kits and feel safe with my readings. Save yourself some money now, you will need to get good test kits in the end.

Salifert for alk and calcium are by far the best. Don't bother with electrinic test kits for those. They are inaccurate and require frequent recalibration. It's much more complicated and cumbersome than an electronic ph meter.

I've done a head to head comparison between Salifert and JBL calcium and alkalinity test kits and they give identical results. The difference being Salifert gives way higher resolution even in low resolution mode, but the JBL is easier and faster to use as you can just squeeze the titrant solution right out of a squeeze bottle without the need of a syringe.

I'm not sure where you can get the Elos test kits in your area. They have only been available for a few months. I would post in the Elos forum in the sponsor area.

I like Salifert Calcium and Alkalinity. Their Mg kit is good too, but I wish the color change was better in this one. The only other alkalinity kit I have used, and still use is the LaMotte...good color change and really easy to use.
