I have a handful of DI resin left over from a refresh of my RO/DI unit. Has anyone put this in a filter sock and put it in your tank? I believe ChemiPure has some DI resin in their mix. Is in beneficial or a waste of time?

Im not really sure what the salt would do to the resin. Also that little bit of resin would be exhausted very quickly I would think. I would say waste of time.

If it has a color change indicator in it this may also be released into your tank, (normally a dye). Don't think it would help much anyway.

Good quality mixed bed DI resin will treat about 2000 total TDS per 16 oz. or one pound of resin so if you put it in a cartridge it will treat about 100 gallons of water if it is 200 TDS. Fresh Saltwater has a TDS that exceeds 10,000 so it would be exhausted immediately.
