I had a beautiful finger leather that looked so healthy.
For the past week now, it has shrivled up like it usually does at night but now its all day. Its shedding this mucus like coating on its skin. There does appear to be any abrasions, or anything irritating it.
Am I being paranoid or is this something it goes through once in a while? If so how long?

How long is had??? Check all of your parameters...Turn you flow higher on it to help it shed the mucous...Lighting???? Again, How long is had???

I guess that was worded wrong. I still have it. I have had it for about 8 months.
It sits at the bottom of the tank in a 90 gal with VHO lighting. It never seem to have bothered it before.
All other corals are healthy including another toadstool.

I posted a couple weeks ago about the same problem. My leather was the most beautiful piece in my tank. it closed for a month and a half. It was not being bothered by any other tank inhabitants and I could not find any apparent reason. I was told to do this and that...but finally someone piped in and said if it is not rotting be patient and leave it alone. I did. It started to open to it's full glory two days ago. I would be patient and just keep an eye on it. If it gets moved around or given any fresh water treatments it will only prolong it opening. I would be patient with it.

And so be it. He came back looking pretty good today. Now that I know I wont need to be paranoid and post a question. The experience of knowing whats going on is very enlightning.
