Im looking to buy online another powerhead. I currently have a Seio 820. I am looking to add a Maxi Jet Model 1200 (295 gph). Ihave a reef aquarium, 72 gallon bow front. What do you think? Or should i look into another type. Money is a factor, but i dont want to buy a garbage powerhead?

they are good, basic powerheads. My only complaint is that they only get up to 295 gph... they should have a 400 and 500gph models.

Great reliable PH, its all I buy, They start on a dime (though there is a little clack if its not hooked up to a "slow start" wave maker) But they can be moded (needle/mesh wheel, jet stream mod, or just cut off the nozzle for a more broad flow(like sawing off a shotgun) (did I say that)
Even run them in a bucket of Kalk with no problems. or on a a gate.

Im sure there are better ph like the tunze i just dont want to spend the money. I also have a seio that pumps 820 gph and now i just ordered the maxijet the pumps 295 gph. Will this be enough for my 72 gal bowfront?

You should have gotten a hydor korralia, they're only like $20 more than a maxijet and much better flow rates.

All i currently have is one finger leather, brain favite, green star polyps, mushrooms, torch, and open brain. Im going to be added some more softs and lps. As far as fish 1 naso tang, a couple gobies and a few damsels. I will be adding a fairy wrasse, a flame angel and not sure what else for now.

get a tunze nano stream

The nano streams at this point are junk. A high percentage of them are either
1) breaking mounting tabs
2) Freezing up
3) Burning out motors
4) breaking shafts

I'm sure tunze will deal with the issues, but the pumps stores have now are absolute junk.

maxijets are beasts. they are very forgiving of less than par conditions and you can suck up sand with them with no problem.

But the nano streams look so much better in your tank...

I have a MJ1200 and a Nano Stream... the MJ is definitely a reliable power head.

it doesnt matter how good a powerhead looks if it doesnt work.

these are the only powerheads i buy.

the only thing is the mj1200 uses 20 watts while the mj900 only uses 9 watts. Better to just get the mj900, IMO.

I would just get another Seio. The maxi-jets are great little pumps but the Seios are hard to beat at adding big current in the tank for small amounts of money.

Well i thank you all for your comments back. I went ahead and bought the maxijet. Hopefully it does the job. If not i only paid around 15.00 for it, can't beat that.

Don't forget you can mod a Maxijet into a stream pump that will woop the pants off the Nano streams and SEIOs
