I started with a 2 polyp candy cane coral frag about two years ago. It is doing well and now has 17 polyps. It doesn't seem to be growing any of the twig-like base, though. All of the new stony growth is covered with flesh. It now looks like a broccoli crown. The "how to frag" pictures I have seen show it looking more like a tree branch with multiple polyp bunches.

Is this normal growth? Do I just need to wait longer to start to see more than just polyp growth?

Try aggitating the water around the polyps, they shoud retract exposing the skeleton for cutting.
