Okay, here's where I'll need folks to post if you want stuff from reeftopia... As of this very moment, there are TWO of us in on this order - Shaar, and myself. It says if you place the order by 11est, you'll have the order the next day. I'll place the order at 8am thursday so that we can have the critters by friday (i leave work earlier some fridays). I'll be home the whole afternoon - you can swing by and pick up yer livestock.

With just the TWO of us, this is what the order looks like:

We needed a $125 minimum order. There's a $10 fuel charge (whatever that is).

****300 sm blue leg hermits = $90
*100 for shaar = $30
*200 for myself = $60
**100 sm astrae turbo snails = $48
*50 for shaar = $24
*50 for myself = $24
****** 1 Crazy "fuel charge" = $10
*1/2 of that for shaar =$5
*1/2 of that for myself =$5

That makes the total order $148... $89 for me; $59 for shaar.

I'd rather get some more snails and less hermits (closer to the 100hermits/100 snail ratio I'd like), and I guess that'll be possible if others hop in on this. If there's enough people who'll hop on, I may even order the 3 Halimeda plants for $14... I just would prefer not to drop "a Benjamin" :smokin: Let's just leave this thread open and see who hops on. If someone sees a better deal/combo than what I am seeing - or if my math and division skills need polishing lemme know...

I'm in for 50 Astrea ($24) and I'd like 12 Cerith Snails ($15) plus whatever the fuel charge divides out to.

Steve, if you order thursday of this week, they throw in 3 free peppermint shimp or a reetopia coffee mug :) lol

I'm currently looking on there and seeing what would be a good overall lot deal for us. Updates in a sec

Snail, Cerith {Best Variety} (100 @ .75 Each) 75.00

Hermit, Small BlueLeg (300 @ .30 Each) 90.00

Snail, Turbo (Astrae) (100) 48.00

These were the only things of interest really, unless of course we order more turbo's. I wouldn't mind 50 turbo's, 100 hermits, and maybe 30 ceriths. We'll figure something out i guess.

are you paying for it and then taking the money from people or what?

let me figure out what i need.

Sorry guys I have to hold off at this point.

I'm heading up to St.Louis this weekend to pick up a 240 gallon tank. I will have to worry about replenishing my clean up crew once I get this new tank set up. I'd hate to have to stuff that many snails and crabs in my 90 for the next month will I get it set up.

Maybe next time.
Thanks ScottS

I am interested in at least 50 astrae snails also and some hermits. Maybe we can get a few others in and get the 300 astrae snails and 600 hermit crabs for some bigger savings. Of course it says it is out of stock on the 600 hermits but a call down there may be all you need to get this pricing. Anyway would be interested in 50snails/50hermits or 100/100 possibly depending on price.

Shaar

so me, steve, and joel will add up to 300 hermits (90 bucks total) ($30 each for 100 hermits)

then everyone wants turbo's, we could divide up 200 turbo's between us @ $96 for 200 of em ($24 each for 50 turbo's)

and then whatever else we plan on getting.

So if we just got that, between 4 of us (not including john and his ceriths :P) it will be run us each $54 with a 2.50 fuel surcharge (John add $15 for your 12 cerith snails ;))

So it looks like this might be a head start on the order:

-300 hermits @ $90
-200 turbo's @ $96
-12 ceriths @ $15
-3 free peppemint shrimp upon request (just mention it in the order checkout)

Steve, anything else?

Shaar - Thanks for doing the figuring for me - I appreciate it. My kid got HORRIBLY ill today and I just now have been able to look at how this order was taking shape. What you posted up above looks to be right on the money!
I'll go ahead and put the order on my credit card Thursday as planned - with tomorrow being a "cut-off" of some sort. I'll just make a post when the goods arrive :bum:

I have no need for the peppermints - so someone will get a great deal on them...

I would like to get:
Nerite Snail {tesselatta} 6 for $12.00
and
Some Cerith snails (???)

Does anyone other than JohnS (largejohn) want cerith snails? I would like to get some. If we got three or four people in on 100, that would really save some $$ on ceriths.

I would recommend 50/50 hermits and turbo's. Thats what i got for my 55 on the last group buy, and it was just about perfect.

Sounds good I would be interested in the peppermint shrimp if nobody else is. Also thought about getting a nudibranch anybody interested in going in on a lot? I definitely in for the 100 hermits and 50 snails for $54 plus fuel charge.

I'm not too sure.. we'd have to upgrade and buy another 'lot' of hermits and turbo's. Steve (Hess), have any ideas?

Steve go ahead and put me down for one lot of 4 Nudibranch for $24.
I have hair algae and they say these work great for getting rid of it.

If nobody else wants to go in on 100 ceriths, then put me down for:

12 Cerith Snails (best variety) for $15.00
6 Nerite Snails {tesselatta} for $12.00

Ok gang, my kid is feeling much better after she had to get an IV ran through her... bad flu. That was a miserable experience for her and Momma and Popa :sad2:
But to get to the point, this is the order I'll place at ~8AM tomorrow...

300 hermits for $90
200 turbos for $96
24 ceriths for $30
6 nerites for $12
4 nudis for $24
1 funky fuel-charge of $5
the total will be $257 (I'll put it on my credit card).

the breakdown goes like this:

100 hermits ($30), 50 astrae snails ($24), and 1/5 of a fuel charge comes to $55 for both Shaar and myself.

4 nudis ($24), 100 hermits ($30), 50 astrae snails ($24), and 1/5 of a fuel charge comes to $79 for Joel.

50 astrae snails ($24), 12 cerith snails ($15), and 1/5 of a fuel charge comes to $40 for LargeJohn

12 cerith snails ($15), 6 nerites ($12), and 1/5 of a fuel charge comes to $28 for John Kelly.

hambandit - in order for you to hop in on just about any of the LOT PRICING, we'd have to buy another big lot. To make it up to you, I'll give you the 3 free peppermints ???

I don't know if I'll be back on ReefCentral again before I place the order, so I hope this order is cool with the other 4 parties involved...

Later!

I placed the order this morning. It's supposed to arrive at my house by 10:30. I'll be off work by 1pm, but my wife will be here to accept the shipment.
The total actually ended up being a couple bucks cheaper (just shy of $250) because of some 5% discount on >$200 order - but the "fuel charge" is up'd to $10... not really sure... I was "on-the-clock" at work and was pressed for time while making the order. Anyway, the free peppermints or mug applies only to internet orders - and I ordered over the phone (sorry, hambandit :( ).
I've got Shaar and John Kelly's numbers already, so if Joel and Large John could just shoot me a PM with your telephone numbers, I'll give everyone a call (with directions if needed) when I get home from work and I can sort out the shipment.

joelk835 how is your 4 nudibranch doing? My wife really wants some pretty "slugs". I hear they can eat coral? Have you had a problem?

joelk835
03/22/2007, 02:25 PM
Hi jhuggins. Nudibranches are doing fine. They haven't bothered anything in the tank most of the time I see one or two on the glass as they act like a snail and seem more interested in algae. Never heard any issue with them eating corals before? All my corals are doing great.

I can't remember if you said your setup had any pumps in its display or not...
I've heard that they are known to wander too close to an intake - but aren't poisonous.
I'd like to get a few if yours are doing ok with your pumps (if you have any).

joelk835

I have two tunzes streams but haven't had any issues with them going near them.

Hey, Steve I was thinking about another reeftopia order in April I think I'll start a new topic but if you want to get some we could split a lot possibly?

SoupySteve
03/22/2007, 08:11 PM
You can bet your a$$ I'm always in for sweet group deals! I think they still have the 4 for $24 offer - which is niice. Have you seen any GROWTH in your nudis? How long do they live? I was regretting not getting the same deal you did when I saw what they looked like :bum:

joelk835
03/23/2007, 07:51 AM
Steve, haven't noticed any growth in size that much yet. I have heard they do not have long life spans so we will see. I am going to start a new reef topia order topic to see what kind of interest it gets. Looking to place an order in April so that should give members quite awhile to think about it.
