Pics are really blurry, but judging by the column shot, it is likely a BTA.

it does not bubble up like a bta though.

I have one in the other room which has a 20 gal and there are no "bulbs" on this one.

it is quite common and something of a mystery as to why E. Quadricolor sometimes does and sometimes does not have the bulb tips.

I'm one of those strange people that prefers bta's when they don't bubble up :)
