Hey all,

I have been having problems in my tank recently and one of the changes I made was switching out the kinds of carbon I use. Instead of using marineland, I bought the cheap brand at the local petsmart for half the price. I noticed some of the granules turned rust-colored when in use. After a month I went to change my carbon and made the connection that maybe this cheap brand of carbon could lead to problems. I have seen tissue recession (STN/RTN) and lost a few colonies. My water didnt look especially clear while I was using it either. So does anyone else use HBH Aqua-Pure carbon without having problems?

Thanks,
Mike

I use it but i don't keep SPS. No problems here, water is crystal.

Have you ever noticed the granuoles turning rust colored like I mentioned? How do you run the carbon? Mine was in a phosban reactor.

As far as not having any SPS, I have had a head of caulastrea die, zoas disappear (though I might blame this on my angelfish...), and my xenia look mad.
