I will be adding my 15g prop tank to my 29g display tank probably tomorrow.

Can I just add 15g of newly mixed saltwater or do I need to get some one's water from a water change? I was thinking I could use my water from water change but then It wouldn't be a water change cause I would be taking it out and putting it back in

WOW thats a good question. Its like doing a 50% water change.

I dont know maybe do some small water changes and save the old water until your have your 15 gals?

good question, I'll hang around for an imformed answer...

That was my original idea but I will be putting the same water back in so what's the point of even taking it out? lol, it's a stumper for me. To be safe I'll probably bumb some water of a local reefer from a water change.

I do aquarium maintance and we do 50% water changes often on 55g 's with good results so maybe I'll just add new water.....

Depends on what you stock in your tank currently I'd say, but even then a 50% change is used when something bad happens (dead nem ect.) with little ill effects. Some ppl recommend 50% changes to stress a nem into splitting after overfeeding

so it will stress stuff, but as long as you don't have super sensative corals, should be fine
