Hi my frogspawn died and now my torch has some brown stuff on one of its heads and it looks like it is shriveling up. Is this the so called brown jelly? If so what causes it and how can it be treated? Thanks.

Cause - Ive never seen an absolute answer but the consensus seems to be not enough water changes or some other change in water quality that makes the coral more susceptible for infection.

Cure - None Ive seen. I would immediatly frag the coral and get the frags as far apart as possible. Hopefully some will survive.

Sorry I dont have more positive feedback.

It's hard but possible, I only had one case of brown jelly on some polys and some survied, using the turkey baster remove as much as you can every time you see it, frag if possible, make sure you don't let that go in other corals, it spreads fast. Medium flow around the affected coral.
