White Translucent Substance

I been noticing a white translucent substance in the water column lately.Looks kind of slimey and nasty.
The only thing that i can think that might be causing this is,that last week I trimmed the Chaeto and caulerpa algae from my refugium.This happened once before but didn't make the connection.
Does this sound like what is happening?Partial die off of the caulerpa.
Any advice on what to do?

I have the same thing showing up this week, on the bottom of the glass near the sand. I was told it was just a type of algae, one of the many types that goes thru the cycling process of my new (3 month) old tank. it isn't taking over the tank, but I was concerned when it "just showed up."
