Ok, what is the diffrence in KH and ALK?

Alkalinity is suppose to be between 8-12 correct? WHat about KH?

ON my salifert test i come up with 0.00 in my syringe says KH value in dKH is 16.0 and ALK in meg/L is 5.71. I don't really understand or know if i'm high or low or good?

Used this same test kit before and had same results, tried 2 different lots and same results, i now use the LaMotte alkalinity model WAT-DR code 4491-dr, very consistant from lot to lot, hope this helps

I use the salifert alkalinity test.
It reads out in either meg/l or DKH for the results. I use dkh and between 7-11 is ok, just learn what your tank likes best and keep it stable. If your up to 16dkh your tank is really off or you did the test wrong. Are you doing the full test or the half test? You only double the value for the half test..
What additives do you add?

I use this test as well. I've never had any issues with it, I get very consistent readings.

Another vote for the Salifert Alkalinity test. I use it all the time with no problems.

I use one, definitely a reliable kit. But I miss my JBL test kit that doesn't require me to use a syringe to titrate (just drip right out of the bottle).
