Please, no Salifert recommendation. For some reason, I have trouble "reading" the shades of yellow on Salifert's test results chart.
I use Salifert kits for everything else, but I need a different kit to test for ammonia that has a chart with colors easier to read.
Any ideas?

I use Aquatic Phamaceuticals for my Ammonia and Nitrite. I use Salifert for everything else. I find AP easy to read. I don't necesarrily look for accuracy in ammonia and nitrite. Any reading means I have a problem.
FWIW, I love Salifert but I HATE their PO4 test kit. Man you talk about difficulty in reading colors. Even my wife has a problem with it.

I have always liked salifert the best. IMO they are the most accurate and when it comes to ammonia you need that accuracy.

I dissagree with team2jndd. With amonia you can have a slightly less accurate test (such as the AP ones that kfowler mentioned. I also use their amonia test and like it). But i say amonia doesnt have to be as precise because in a cycled tank, you should not be having amonia at all. I test for amonia waay less than i test for nitrates and phosphates, calcium, etc. Amonia and nitrite, once the tank is cycled, does not move unless something big dies.
