Will this be to small....? I have a 12" piece of 3" diameter tubing. It holds aprox 1200ml of water. Would this be a big enough tube to make a small kalk reactor that i would last 5 days befor replenishing. And if so how much kalk would i be able to hold in it. My tank is 55g and i lose approx 1g of water a day so i would be dripping 1 g of water a day through the reactor. Would this be a big enough reactor.

I think its more than enough for a kalk reactor.

This isn't a chemistry issue really, it is an engineering issue. The problem with small limewater reactors is that they need to be stirred often to keep much lime dissolved, but then there is little time for the solids to settle back out.

1 gallon of limewater will only require 0.5 to 2 level teaspoons of lime, so if you want it to last a week, you'll need it to be able to hold something like 5-20 teaspoons of solids, and then have water on top of that. But the total water volume will be a lot less than 1 gallon, so it would need to be stirred fairly frequently.

Personally, I much prefer dosing limewater from a settled reservoir.
