My tank has been running good with appx. 18 assorted snails, 1 Banded Bullet Goby, 10 blue leg, and 10 red leg crabs for a week. Last night I added 2 cleaner shrimp, 12 more blue leg crabs, a sand sifting star fish, and 1 Coral Beauty. I woke up this morning and saw that the Coral Beauty had white spots on it (ICH, I assumed). On my way home I stopped by the LFS and they sold me some Ruby Reef Kick-ICH and also told me to do a fresh water dip for 4-5 minutes on my Coral Beauty. When I came in tonight and looked at the Coral Beauty most of the ICH is gone (there are very few spots on the fish). Have any of you guys/gals remedied this problem this way? Just wanted to get a confirmation as to this being a good way to treat the problem before actually doing it. Right now I am filtering some water to do the 'dip'. Please, any info will be appreciated...

Thanks,
Dave

The ich spots vanishing for a day is pretty much thte normalcyce for ich. Odds are they wil be back in a day or so even worse. As far as the Kick-ich product I have used it with success and actually have 4/1 liter bottles on there way just for safety. When using Kick ich I must admit that I didnt folow the directions. I treated the tank everyother day and dose at aout 110%. I cant recommend this, but that is what worked for me. As far as FW dips, i dont like them. I think it added to the stress of an already sock fish. 4-5 minutes seems like a long dipping period anyway, i thought the standard was 3 minutes. If that is you onlyfish i woud pace it in a QT and do hypo and leave you tank fallow for 6-8 weeks.

I don't have a QT tank ' Yikes'... I'm not so keen on the fresh water dip solution either but if it will work I will do it.

Would you suggest only using the KICK-ICH solution????

He said he used it with success AND hes ordering another bottle for backup reasons. Why would you think he wouldn't recommend it?

Anyway, i have tried the freshwater dip for 5min, it really didnt work. It WILL work if you have a QT tank setup.

The freshwater dip won't work if you keep putting the fish back in the same tank.

Here are some links that might help.

I was at the lfs a few days ago and saw this:

I asked if anyone has had success and he said yes but theres still the chance it wont work.

By the way for the big one i saw like this they wanted like $28 i was like if i get that ill get it online at MD for $16 much cheaper ordering online imo. But i have to wait till i place a big order so i don't have to spend a lot on shipping every time i order (instead of ordering a few things i order a list of things lol.)

With any "reef safe" ich treatment there is always a chance it will kill the inverts in your tank.
