Ok so I cannot get a pic, but here it goes. I have a green BTA, for 2 weeks, its been doing very well, eating, expanding, etc.. The only problem is it cant seen to find a place to stay. Today I noticed it up next to my heater and I really didn't think much of it. when I got home this evening it was face down, shrunken up, and its whole top was covered with slime and what I guess is sand. It looks like its been smothered with baby cereal(best comparison, looks exactly like it). I moved its tentacles a bit and its mouth is still tightly closed. I have it sitting in a breeder net just in case it starts falling apart. No response to touch or movement. some of its tips are still bubbled out. Sorry its so long.

Any ideas???

What are your water parameters, other tank mates, and equipment? Any pics of when you first got it, and now?

all parameters are good except amonia, I cant exact number(gotta get a better kit) Its opening back up a bit now. Just full of slime and I guess sand. Mouth looks great. So i dont know if it burned itself on the heater.

just got another goodlook and a piece of its side about 1 1/2 inc. long and about 1/4in. high is peeling off, kinda like a finger nail would.

It may have gotten burned. It's happened before. I would do a water change. Yes, good test kits are priceless. I will only use salifert.

The no response has me concerned. The description you gave doesn't sound good either. I don't recommend touching it anymore though. It's stressed enough. Definately keep a close eye on it.

Does it look like it might be splitting?

My guess is it will try to split. It's open and moving, so thats a good sign. Is it able to get any flow in that net?

Cover those PH or you will be going through this again. Watch it closely for now. If it starts to look like it's melting or decaying, it's time to remove it.

This is a great site:

Glad it is doing better. Now you need to get some decent test kits to find out why it's moving so much. What are you keeping your salinity and temp at?

I just seen you have a "obnoxious" hermit crab. Crabs have been known to pester an anemone.

Why is the ammonia up? Was it up before this happened?
As this could be linked to some other problems that are going on that is ticking off the nem.
