So we got this frag off of a guy a while ago. and he says it is a pulsing finger leather.. weird. lmao. So its been growing a while now and its pretty fuzzy. wondered if anyone else has one like this or heard of them actually pulsing???

i found one other person that has one and i guess he has seen his pulse.. at night when the lights were out and he turned off the flow. there was a very small pulse on it..

i have one, it took about a month after i got it for the polyps to "pulse".
the pulse is actually the polyp arms kinda springing open and then curl up, and then re extend. i notice it more at feeding time.
there is a closeup video of it somewhere.

Are you sure? Perhaps you have Pulsing Sinularia.

Back middle of my frag tank. Yes, it doesn't pulse like Xenia or something like that. If you turn off the flow, when a fish swims by, you will see it briefly pulse for a bit.

I second the pulsing Sinularia. Rare and a good find.

I've got a pulsing Sinularia, too. Mine doesn't pulse very much, though. Only certain times of the day and never as much as Xenia sp. It looks nothing like a Xenia, BTW. It pretty much looks like a fuzzy finger leather (polyps almost completely cover the stalks).

Just for clarification, I didn't mean the pink pulsing Xenia in the front (which I grow and whack like crazy), but the one on the rock in the back.

This pictures a bit old, but it's a much closer shot.

How much of the polyps pulse?
I have noticed that most of my sinularia's polyps will actually pulse at times. I have read so many times of people saying they have pulsing sinularia that only pulses sometimes. Guess what? I have normal sinularia and it pulses at sometimes.

From what I gather is true pulsing sinularia pulses in its entirety not just areas of polyps.

I HATE YOU!!! I am really falling in love with certain types of leathers and now I need to find that one locally.

I have enough flow, I can't ever really see them pulse. If I turn off my pumps, I can see it pulse when things come by.

Cool shot, RokleM. That one is different than mine. Let me clean the glass and get a shot (need to try to get some shots of polyp structure on a few other arboreal softies, too:)).

It actually has longer polyps now that it's grown out a bit.
