was it a true peppermint shrimp? Sometimes camel shrimp are sold as peps.

Anyways, you can get a syringe and inject them with either joe's juice, vinegar, or i've even heard just hot water (and i think i heard lemon juice once)

Whats the method for determining if its a "true" peppermint?

I tried everything sold and recommended for aptaisia and it only spread. I finally thre 4 true Peppermint shrimp into my 30 gal. cube. Aptaisia were gone within a couple of days. I had tried using just one before and it didn't work. But 4 did the trick.

haha good point.

this looks like the true peppermint shrimps to me...

this is a camel shrimp, somewhat similar to what the peps look like but often sold as peppermints.

And like fishwife said, you sometimes need more than one. Its hit or miss. Whenever you're gonna try to get rid of aptasia w/peppermints, i'd get like 2-4 depending on how big of a tank it is (if its like 80g i'd get at least 4, if its like 125, i'd get like 8, etc...)

A combination of peppermints and Stop Aiptasia (by Chem-Marin) worked for me. It was a while ago, but I think I had two peppermints in my 50 gallon.

I think it is key to get to them sooner rather than later. As they multiply, it only gets harder to keep up with them!

I recently had one pop up in my tank...I took some KALK powder (1-2 tbs) (pickling lime) mixed with a little water (just enough to dissolve the powder. Sucked it up in a medication syringe (for giving liquids to kids and stuff) and injected it right into/onto the Aiptasia, it was gone within seconds. I was a little concerned becasue it was right next to a coral, but there was no damage...

Joe's Juice--worked in seconds.
