JC Delbeek posted this to one of the scientific lists and I thought I would pass it on here. Seems that UHawaii has published a book on marine plant identification from the Hawaiian Islands. Interesting stuff!

Plants. University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program. / ISBN 1-929054-04-1

Seems cool to bad there are alot more alga in the world. For id purposes does the reference go into detail or is it basically a picture guide. Thanks for sharing.

Charles didn't go into much detail on the book. Here is a review written in the "Honolulu Advertiser". http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070226/COLUMNISTS03/702260338/1121/NEWS

Right, all I know at the moment is that this book exists, though I'd love to pick up a copy for my library. :) Hopefully there are lots of good photos.. in the spirit of the Littlers' classic.

I'm going to try and get a copy. Had better luck downloading the .pdf to a file rather than in Explorer. The $30 US must include postage? Thanks Sarah and jmanrow.

Anybody seen inside the 3rd Edition of Dynamic Aquaria - Adey and Loveland - 2007 (http://www.amazon.com/Dynamic-Aquaria-Third-Building-Ecosystems/dp/0123706416/sr=8-2/qid=1172803456/ref=sr_1_2/002-0237388-6004013?ie=UTF8&s=books)? I'd be interested if its just a retread of the 2nd edition or there is a lot of fresh material. Thanks.

Oooh! I didnt realize there would be a 3rd edition of Dynamic. That's interesting. I would definitely love to find out if there's new insights. :D

I think the $30 does include postage, the order form doesnt mention it otherwise. I just sent off my form tonight. :)

Got Limu?:) Mine came today, about 11 days after we mailed the check. Nice book, well organized, with good aids to identification like keys and scale macro and micro photographs and interesting sidebar notes for some plants. Interesting front section about Hawaiian marine areas, collecting and pressing algae, the effect of invasives on natives, and more. I would have like MORE specie but the book just covers the ones most common in Hawaii. Two fronds up from this reviewer.

A flyer is enclosed for Reef and Shore Fishes of the Hawaiian Islands by John Randall, ISBN: 1-929054-03-3, also available from Sea Grant. 560 pages, 612 specie described, 1007 illustrations.
